Smile Transformation

A smile is a precious and unique component of one's personality. The esthetic solutions that Dr. Davis and his professional staff have mastered can give you back the smile and function you once had or give you the smile that you've always dreamed of having.

The benefits of these treatments go far beyond having stronger, whiter or more shapely teeth. The new first impression you'll be making, the increase in self-confidence and the desire to smile more frequently will be beautifully reflected from your magnificent new smile.

Before After

This mid-30s female was dissatisfied with the appearance of her top two front teeth. These crowns were placed several years earlier by her hometown dentist, who had replaced the original crowns he had placed after she graduated from high school.

Note the dramatic enhancement after two lustrous and lifelike crowns with shapes, shading and reflectivity more closely resembling her neighboring teeth, were placed. An added benefit was the improvement in her upper lip when the more anatomically correct crowns were inserted.

Before After

This woman slipped and fell, causing four of her front teeth to be damaged. The tooth that had the smallest chip was repaired during the first visit with some bonding material. The other three teeth had porcelain veneers placed at the following visit. What is not shown in the "before" picture was that her front two teeth overlapped slightly (prior to the accident). As you can see from the "after" photo, her teeth are straight and aligned beautifully, almost as if minor orthodontic .

This is an example of combination dental therapy treatment. There were benefits achieved by placing three porcelain veneers and one bonded restoration instead of placing four porcelain veneers. No tooth structure had to removed from the tooth that was bonded, the dental technician was given a better guide for restoring the other three teeth, and the overall cost to the patient was reduced.

Before After

At first glance, this spry 76 year old woman, appears to be missing one of her front teeth. Upon closer inspection, we notice that she is missing her two lateral incisors, and that her left front teeth has moved a full tooth length towards the back of her mouth. Here is how this dental challenge was solved. She had five porcelain veneers and a 3-unit all-porcelain bridge placed to help everything blend together. Note the dramatic, yet quite lifelike, transformation.

Before After

This female in her late 20s had direct bonding placed by a previous dentist several years earlier. Some of the teeth required bonding repairs on multiple occasions. She had twenty porcelain veneers placed. Her veneers have been very uneventful for more than 14 years. The results speak for themselves.

Before After

Creating a uniform smile for someone who has multiple teeth with various shades and levels of staining is a challenge. While twelve of his top teeth are visible when he smiles, only four teeth were treated; two with porcelain veneers and two with full crowns, to improve the appearance of his teeth.

Before
After (Top) After (Top & Bottom)

This patient had her top teeth lightened in the office and followed it up with at-home tray therapy for one week. Note the dramatic difference ("After Top picture") between her top and bottom teeth. The teeth whitening procedure was duplicated on her bottom teeth and after two weeks of total therapy, highly satisfactory results were achieved (After Top & Bottom picutre).

Before After

The fillings looked pretty good, but there was decay underneath the silver that was causing pain and discomfort. One tooth had decay that was so deep, a root canal had to be performed before the tooth could be properly restored.

The new partial crowns (inlays, onlays and overlays) required minimal additional tooth removal after the old fillings and decay were removed. The new restorations are inconspicuous and almost indistinguishable from the original tooth.

After a trauamtic sports injury, we were able to repair the tooth to look indistinguishable from its pre-accident appearance.

All of the photos presented here were taken of clients who were treated by Dr. Elliot Davis in his private lower Fifth Avenue dental office in New York. None of the dental work demonstrated in the photos has been altered, retouched or modified in any manner, except for cropping, rotation or sizing. All of the crowns (all porcelain, porcelain fused to metal and implant), porcelain veneers, direct tooth bonding and root canal procedures were successfully completed by Dr. Davis. Some of the periodontal surgeries were performed by Dr. Davis, while some were performed by a periodontist. While all of the implant abutments, implant crowns and implant bridges were placed by Dr. Davis, the implant surgeries were performed by a specialist, either an oral surgeon or a periodontist.

When performing smile transformation dentistry, we must be cognizant that we are dealing with the human body and all that it has to offer, including its complexities and idiosyncrasies. While we constantly strive for perfection, there are times when the results might not meet everyone's expectations. Exceptional aesthetic dentistry can be accomplished when the dentist's diagnosis, preliminary care and expertise; the patient's oral hygiene and home care compliance; and the skills of the dental technicians and dental auxiliaries and dentist are wonderfully blended together.

To give you a truer understanding of what to expect from a dramatic smile transformation, Dr. Davis has provided a range of results, not just the pictures of those patients with whom he achieved the best results. This is a fairer way to gauge what you should realistically expect from your treatment, and your dentist.

Your face. Your smile. Your teeth. These are some of your most personal, unique and precious possessions. The decision to have a minor or complete transformation is a serious one, not to be made quickly or lightly. What are your needs? Your expectations? Are they realistic? Exploring these questions and more with your dentist will allow you to make an informed choice that is the right one for you.
