1. Do not rinse for 24 hours.  
     
2. Do not drink any alcoholic beverages for 24 hours.  
     
3. Do not smoke for 24 hours.  
     
4. Do not drink through a straw for 24 hours.  
     
5. Do not eat anything until effects of the anesthetic have completely worn off.  
     
6. Do not eat anything too temperature hot or too spicy.  
     
7. Eat on the other side of your mouth for a few days.

If swelling occurs during the first 24 hours, place ice in a washcloth over the area for 5 minutes, then remove for 5 minutes. Repeat several times.

If swelling occurs after the first 24 hours, place a very warm washcloth over the area for 5 minutes, then remove for 5 minutes. Repeat several times.

If bleeding occurs, bite down on the gauze for 15 minutes and examine. If the bleeding has not stopped,repeat for 30 minutes. If the bleeding has not stopped, wrap a pre-packaged tea bag in a wet gauze and bite down for 30 minutes.
 
     
11. The day after surgery, rinse with a 1/4 teaspoon of salt in 5 ounces of warm water 6-8 times per day.Continue for a few days.  
     
12. If antibiotics are prescribed, take all the pills, even if the discomfort and/or swelling have disappeared.  
     
13. If pain medication is prescribed, take the specific dosage at the recommended time intervals.  
     
14. If a dressing is placed, and it becomes dislodged, contact the office to set up a pack replacement   appointment.
